Workshop convened by:

Prof.dr. Nicoleta DUMITRASCU, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Faculty of Physics

The workshop debates the capability of plasma processing at low and atmospheric pressure in enlargement the surface characteristics of materials for medical applications. Efficiency of plasma processing is proved by medical applications such as synthesis of polymeric membranes and deposition of biofunctional coatings. An especial attention is devoted to the plasma at atmospheric pressure as a versatile and less expensive technique in obtaining functionalized surfaces for biomolecules immobilization. By future collaborative activities we expect to undertake a standardization of certain plasma devices and identification of new strategies of plasma processing in biomaterials science.

The workshop is organized in three sessions covering the following topics:

1. Plasma processing for biomedical applications
2. Effects of plasma on the surface properties of biomaterials
3. Perspectives of plasma processing in biomaterials science

Participation at this event is by invitation only.
